An Invitation Accepted: Bernal Yoga Literary Series on February 4, 2012
I received an email a day ago inviting me to participate in the next Bernal Yoga Literary Series reading on February 4th. Bernal Yoga is in my old neighborhood Bernal Heights (I have the t-shirt to prove it). I’ve agreed to participate and am very much looking forward to it.
Now I haven’t participated in a reading in a while. And as a playwright I have the option of reading my own work or having someone else perform my work with me (as in me reading stage directions). A few years back I participated in Litquake and I read a series of monologues from American Triage. So I read the monologue (three of Lalo’s monologues) and the accompanying stage directions.
I’m trying to figure out if I will read my own work myself, or if I want to try and collaborate with someone else who would read say monologues while I read the stage directions. I wonder what that would be like.
And I’m thinking of Ghost Limb for this reading. I just got to figure out what monologues to include since I only have a maximum of 10 minutes.
