    MAJOR SPOILER ALERT

FYI, this entire blog post is pretty much a spoiler. You have been warned.

    So, proceed with caution.

Ever since my October table reading there has been one question that I’ve been trying to answer re the logistics of Amara’s birth, Dalila’s death. There’s also the question of why Amara, why is it her?

I still haven’t quite answered that second question, but I think I’ve solved the first issue. You see, Dalila dies a year before Amara is born. Now, that means there’s three months in between Dalila’s death and when Amara was conceived. So, if Amara is some sort of reincarnation of Dalila, I need to explain a bit the three months that transpire between Dalila’s death and when Amara was conceived.

Walking to the grocery store today I was thinking about these questions. I knew that the answer would have to come from Dalila and it would have to be mentioned in Scene 2 when she and Miqueo are on the roof top and they first talk about reincarnation and the Law of Conservation of Mass. That was the place in the play where I could take a crowbar and insert this bit of information.

As luck would have it my muse started whispering in my ear. Now, the bit of dialogue I scribbled onto the back of my grocery list is a first draft, and I’ll likely have to amend it in order to make sure it adheres to the timeline I’m setting up (see above paragraph), but this is the answer I’ve been looking for.

MIQUEO: Do you think that’s what happens to us when we die?
DALILA: Who knows. But if I could have it my way, I’d lap around the sun before returning.

This small exchange doesn’t seem like much, but when I heard it in my head I felt a light bulb going off. I knew this was the great eureka moment I’ve been waiting for to help me get back into rewrites for the play. And now I can’t wait to get back to rewrites. Excited. Ever so excited.
